Want to try your hand at block-printing your own t-shirt or garment all while enjoying a drink or two? Join me at Swell Brewing Co. in beautiful McLaren Vale for a relaxed, hands-on session where you’ll learn the basics of linocut printmaking + fabric printing as you print your very own t-shirt! Perfect for beginners, these workshops are all about having fun, experimenting with simple techniques, and discovering the magic of linocut printmaking (and if you can enjoy a drink or two at the same time - why not!!).
No experience needed — just bring your creativity! Enjoy step-by-step guidance on creating and carving your own “stamps” from lino which you’ll use to print your t-shirt or garment. For those who are not confident at drawing - never fear! Plenty of reference images and examples are provided to give you inspiration for your designs. Tracing paper is provided and you will be shown how to transfer your traced images onto your lino to create your stamps.
You’ll spend the workshop hand-crafting multiple stamps from ezy-carve lino, then, using a variety of colours of ink, you’ll experiment with creating a fun and unique design for your t-shirt or garment!
For this workshop you are required to bring your own t-shirt or garment. This way you can freely select your preferred size/style/colour! Your garment can be any colour you choose, but a single-colour garment is recommended. You do NOT have to bring a t-shirt if you would like to print on something else! Possible options include:
- T-shirts/long-sleeved t-shirts
- Buttoned shirts
- Hoodies/jumpers
- Pants/jeans
- Tote bags
Feel free to bring along multiple items, and if we have time, you can play around with printing on more than one garment!
The fabric must be a natural fibre i.e. cotton, linen, denim, bamboo, hemp etc. The fabric can’t be too textured. The more texture there is in the fabric, the more difficult it will be to achieve a clean, crisp print i.e. a fabric like corduroy is NOT recommended! Workshop runs for 4 hours and you’ll be able to purchase lunch/snacks + drinks during this time from the brewery which you can enjoy while you create. Food and drink from the venues are NOT included in the ticket price.
